ACC Basketball: 5 rising stars to keep an eye on in 2018-19
2. Justin Robinson, Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech Hokies head coach Buzz Williams is building something special in Blacksburg, VA and point guard Justin Robinson looks to be well on his way to stardom. Robinson finished last season as a second-team All-ACC selection by season’s end and should work his way to first-team in 2018-19.
He averaged 14.0 points, 5.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 2017-18 as he shot 46.4% from the field and 39.8% from the 3-point arc. He’s started in the team’s last 66 contests and made great strides in his junior campaign for the Hokies.
Robinson poured in a career-high 32 points against the NC State Wolfpack back on Feb. 7 to lift Virginia Tech to its fourth win in five games. It was a decisive game considering the Hokies were selected to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. They’ll look to make it three in a row behind the leadership of Robinson.
Robinson returns as do three other starters in the Virginia Tech Hokies rotation, giving them a plethora of experience to work with. Add in the additions of Ty Outlaw and Khadim Sy in the frontcourt and suddenly the Hokies look dangerous.
