Trae Young

The Atlanta Hawks must have big plans for Trae Young at the point guard spot. After all, they drafted Luka Doncic then traded him to the Dallas Mavericks for a future pick and Young on draft night.

Consider it a snub via trades; similar to the one the Boston Celtics made with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ultimately, they took Jayson Tatum over Markelle Fultz and fans saw how that played out by the end of the season.

Young had quite the productive freshman campaign with the Oklahoma Sooners in 2017-18. He averaged 27.4 points, 8.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range.

He made waves with his range from behind the arc and saw his stock rise with the Sooners. Young has shown the ability to fill it up too, scoring 40 points or more on four different occasions as a freshman. Oklahoma posted a 7-2 record when Young scored 30 points or more in the 2017-18 season.

Next: Which 2018 NBA Draft picks will have the best careers?

Young will have an opportunity to prove his critics wrong but he’ll have his work cut out for him with the Hawks. They went 24-58 last season and already have a ton of guards on the payroll for 2018-19.
