5. Dalano Banton, Western Kentucky

Head coach Rick Stansbury had a busy recruiting season this past year for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. He reeled in the 29th ranked recruiting class in 2018, pulling in 6-foot-10 big man Charles Bassey, five-star prospect and potential one-and-done prospect.

Bassey isn’t the only top recruit in the class, either. 6-foot-6, 190-pound point guard Dalano Banton, a Canadian native. Banton is the 92nd ranked recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports, in the 2018 recruiting class. He was originally a member of the 2019 recruiting class but he reclassified into this year’s, giving the Hilltoppers some versatility in the process.

Banton has the prototypical size and skill set of a point-forward and has the potential to show what he can do in college basketball in 2018-19. With Charles Bassey in the frontcourt, Banton has a go-to playmaker to rely heavily upon in the Conference USA. If the Hilltoppers make a deep run in March, look for Banton’s name to come up as a player that could make the leap to the next level.
