George Washington Basketball has some holes to fill in 2018-19. Maurice Joseph’s third season at the helm will be a busy one in the Atlantic 10.

Things went the opposite direction for head coach Maurice Joseph and the George Washington Colonials in 2017-18. George Washington finished with a record of 15-18 last season, 7-11 in the Atlantic 10. They’ll lose their top scorer and rebounder Yuta Watanabe (16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game) as well as Patrick Steeves as they look to turn things around in 2018-19.

In 2016-17, the Colonials finished with a 20-15 record and 10-8 in conference play in Coach Joseph’s first season. Last season, they finished ranked 309th in total offense (67.4 points per game) and allowed on average 70.3 points per contest. While they were a solid defensive squad, their offense left much to be desired.

Year 3 for head coach Maurice Joseph will be an interesting one for his team as they have to replace a few holes in the rotation. The Colonials have some experience returning along with three incoming freshmen giving an opportunity for some new starters to emerge in the upcoming season.

The 2018-19 season will be an interesting one for George Washington. They won’t necessarily be a young squad with four juniors and two seniors on the team, but an underclassman could emerge as their star by the time Atlantic 10 play arrives.
