Projected starters

The starting rotation for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will have some unproven players on it but it could be for the best. It helps that Georgia Tech has just two seniors listed on the roster for 2018-19, so there’s a chance to build some continuity for next year. The Yellow Jackets are led in the backcourt by 6-foot guard Jose Alvarado.

Alvarado missed the team’s final seven contests last season due to a dislocated elbow, but not before averaging 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per contest over the majority of the season. He led the team in assists (77) and 3-pointers made (40) as a freshman.

Alvarado will be joined in the backcourt by Brandon Alston, who is entering his second season with Georgia Tech. Alston put up 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 2017-18.  6-foot-5 guard Curtis Haywood II is another player returning from injury in 2018-19. He produced 5.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 15 appearances last season before going down with an injury.

In the frontcourt, Abdoulaye Gueye and Moses Wright are set to hold down the forward positions. Gueye started in 23 of 31 games last season, recording 5.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest as a junior. Wright started in 10 of his 25 appearances in 2017-18, averaging 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds as a freshman.
