Duke Basketball: Early observations of the Blue Devils heading into Maui

Zion Williamson is a moving train on the basketball court

Zion Williamson has been a burden to bear for opposing teams the moment he’s stepped on the floor. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound forward is averaging 25.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per contest through the first three games of the regular season.

Williamson has been efficient in his debut as a college basketball star, shooting an impressive 82.1 percent from the floor so far. He’s 32-of-39 from the floor and has shown why he was so coveted as a high school prospect.

He’s another Duke freshman that’s put up at least 20 points in all three of his appearances as well as a double-double for the Blue Devils this season. He opened the season with a career-high 28 points against the Kentucky Wildcats on 11-of-13 shooting from the floor.

Williamson is showing why he’s another projected top lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. He’ll need to keep it going in the Maui Invitational against a talented field of teams. He’s only attempted three shots from behind the arc, so maybe teams will force him to shoot more.
