2. Stretch their depth

Virginia Tech should have their way offensively with Saint Francis in this game. Opponents are outscoring the Red Flash 85.0-70.3 on average on the young season.

This game will be a good test in seeing where Ty Outlaw and P.J. Horne are at in the frontcourt rotation. Both should see increased minutes if the Hokies build a lead in the early going.

Outlaw and Horne both played over 20 minutes in the Hokies championship victory on Sunday. As Outlaw looks to find his rhythm, expect a big game from him. Horne is another player that can put up numbers when given a chance.

If the starters can get hot and get a big lead, there’s a chance for Outlaw or Horne to take the reins as the lead scoring option. Outlaw made a school-record eight 3-pointers back in 2016-17 in a win over the Miami Hurricanes.

Another player they’ve yet to let off the leash is guard Landers Nolley. He’s currently awaiting the go-ahead from the NCAA to play after the NCAA ruled him ineligible and forced him to retake the ACT. If they can get him on the floor, that would be huge for their overall depth.
