Michigan State Spartans

While the juggernauts such as Duke and Kentucky have question marks on their respective perimeters, Michigan State is pretty much set for the 2019-20 season. In fact, they may have the best set of guards throughout college basketball.

Cassius Winston and Joshua Langford will be the rare star seniors on a team, both bidding for Big Ten Player of the Year Awards. Then there’s top-35 combo guard Rocket Watts, who’ll be the future for the Spartans. He joins four-star power forward Malik Hall in the 2019 recruiting class, which still has room to grow.

Although the ball won’t be in his hands as much, Edwards’ life would be much easier next year as Winston would set him up nicely on offense, while Langford’s 45% three-point percentage would serve as a detriment for any team looking to double-team him. Edwards would replace outgoing guard Matt McQuaid’s shooting ability, while being a huge upgrade in all the other attributes for a guard.

One potential announcement that could have huge sway on Edward’s decision is what happens with top-5 recruit Vernon Carey. He’s announcing later this week and it appears to be between Duke and Michigan State. The star big man could choose the Spartans and create a scenario where they’re the No. 1 team in the country next year if Edwards chooses as well. On the flip side, Carey picking the Blue Devils could also sway Edwards over there as well. Michigan State already has a compelling argument without Carey but could have an even better one with him committing.
