12. Boston College Golden Eagles (6-2)

Last week: 14th (↑2)

The Boston College Golden Eagles have been a surprise so far through their first eight games. The Golden Eagles have won four of their last five contests and fell in overtime to a tough Providence Friars squad, 100-95, last Tuesday.

Freshman guard Wynston Tabbs has really picked it up for Boston College in the backcourt alongside Ky Bowman and senior Jordan Chatman. Tabbs is putting up 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per contest through their first eight contests, starting in all but one game. He’s looked poised out there considering it’s his first season of college basketball.

His presence has taken the load off of Bowman, who is the team’s leading scorer with 19.1 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. Chatman ranks third on the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game.

Sixth man Nik Popovic is producing 12.0 points off the bench while shooting 59.2 percent from the field. They have another Big East foe on the schedule in the DePaul Blue Demons, who they’ll face on Dec. 22. If they can win there, they should have all the confidence in the world heading into ACC play.
