Virginia Tech Basketball: 3 keys for the Hokies against Washington
Virginia Tech Basketball is on another win streak since falling to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Here’s a look at three keys to victory against Washington.
The Virginia Tech Hokies have just one loss entering their Saturday meeting with the Washington Huskies. With an 8-1 record, the Hokies are looking to repeat last year’s results against the Huskies and continue their current five-game winning streak. Virginia Tech won last year’s matchup, 103-79.
The last Power 5 team the Hokies faced in 2018-19, they didn’t do so well as a team, offensively. Four players scored on offense for them on the road against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. By the time the buzzer sounded, Virginia Tech lost that game 63-62 going away. It wasn’t their best offensive game, to say the least, as they scored a season-low in points.
Since then, the Hokies have put up 88.0 points per game, but those opponent were from the Northeastern, Southern and MEAC conferences. The Washington Huskies are probably still seeking revenge from the defeat they suffered last season against Virginia Tech in an early-season meeting at Madison Square Garden.
Another year, another neutral site. The Hokies should be well prepared in this one, as they were last year but it’s still disappointing the NCAA hasn’t come to a decision on Landers Nolley. He’s another player with the potential to add some more value to their rotation with his ability to shoot behind the arc.
The Hokies are up to 13th in the latest AP Poll and they’ll defend that ranking Saturday against a formidable opponent. Here’s a look at three keys for the Virginia Tech Hokies against the Huskies.
