3. Put two halves a good basketball together

The Hokies won their last game against the South Carolina State Bulldogs, 81-44, but it wasn’t a blowout right away. The Bulldogs trailed the Hokies 34-23 at halftime before things got ugly for them in the second half.

Virginia Tech opened the first half on a cold spell from the field overall in the first half. They shot just 34.5 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from the 3-point line. Luckily for the Hokies, they were able to get to the free throw line in the early going. They were 12-of-15 from the free throw stripe in the first half.

The Hokies may not be able to afford a slow start against a team like the Huskies. Although it’s a neutral site game, Virginia Tech’s last game was at home. They went 2-of-9 from behind the arc goal in the first half against South Carolina State. In the second half, they caught fire from 3-point range, going 9-of-15 from behind the arc.

They will need to find their stroke early against a tough defense. The Huskies are allowing just 67.4 points per game on defense through 10 games. They won’t lay down easy for Virginia Tech so they’ll need to all be ready to play.
