2. Defend the 3-point line

The Virginia Tech Hokies are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation. They currently rank third in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 44.9 percent from behind the arc. A season ago, the Hokies shot 15-of-22 (68.2 percent) from 3-point range in their game against Washington.

The 3-point line will be where the game is won or lost for Washington. They will need to do their best to get out on shooters and defend the 3-point arc or it could be another long game for them.

Ty Outlaw is the team’s most accurate shooter from 3-point land, shooting 51.2 percent from there but he isn’t the only one shooting over 40 percent, either. Ahmed Hill is right behind him, shooting 47.9 percent from 3. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is shooting 46.2 percent from the 3-point line and Justin Robinson is shooting 44.7 percent from the arc.

The Huskies are going to have to work extra hard to get out on shooters for a team that has really grown accustomed to sharing the basketball and making the extra pass. Limiting open 3-point opportunities and protecting the line will be key in getting a victory for Washington.
