Pittsburgh Panthers

Head coach Jeff Capel has turned things around already in Year 1 for the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Panthers boast a young freshmen backcourt of Trey McGowens and Xavier Johnson but they’re thin in the frontcourt. McGowens is producing 10.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Johnson, a DMV native, is the team’s leading scorer and assist maker with 16.4 points and 4.8 assists per contest.

They feature a guard-heavy rotation but there aren’t many players they have in the frontcourt, something that could hurt them during ACC play. 6-foot-9 forward Kene Chukwuka is the only player averaging over 20 minutes of action.

He’s putting up 5.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game, but outside of him, frontcourt production is scarce. Sophomore forward Terrell Brown is registering 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per contest.

Their 2019 recruiting class has zero players currently committed but a number of top prospects remain on their radar; Kofi Cockburn and Tre Mitchell are a few other frontcourt players that hold offers. Playing time is available for Wahab if he were to choose the Panthers, which is why they remain a top choice.
