Michigan State Basketball has an opportunity for an incredible 2019 year. Here are some holiday wishes for the Spartans to achieve that.

Coming into the season, many wondered how Michigan State would fare after losing lottery picks Jaren Jackson Jr. and Miles Bridges to the NBA. It’s safe to say that they’ve put those concerns to rest so far. The Spartans are 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.

One of those two losses was the season-opening five-point loss to #1 Kansas. The other loss was on the road, in overtime to Chris Mack’s Louisville Cardinals.

Sandwiched in between those two losses was a dominating couple of days in the Las Vegas Invitational where Michigan State defeated #17 UCLA and Texas. Then came two impressive Big Ten conference wins. First, the Spartans traveled to Piscattaway and won a tough, close game against an underrated Rutgers team.

Then they welcomed the #23 Iowa Hawkeyes to the Breslin Center to be systematically picked apart 90-68. MSU then got back to its non-conference schedule and once again showed the ability to win close games when they traveled to Gainesville to beat the Florida Gators 63-59. Since then, Michigan State has handled several mid-major teams without difficulty.

Even though things have gone smoothly so far, there are still some things the Spartans need in order to have a successful second half of the season.
