Butler basketball could not get the job done in their Big East opener earlier this week against Georgetown. How can they get back on track vs. Creighton?

After 14 games, Butler basketball finds itself in an interesting position. Unlike most of the years in the past, the Dawgs currently sit squarely on the early NCAA Tournament bubble. In fact, following back-to-back disappointing losses to Florida (on the road by 34) and Georgetown (at home…yikes), Butler fell to the “Last Four In” in our latest bracketology update (which was updated through results of Jan. 3). This is not a spot that many Butler fans or players are used to and therefore the team has to be hoping to turn around the season with this upcoming matchup against Creighton.

The Big East might not be as talent-rich as it has been in some recent years but it is still a very good league. And considering other conferences, such as the Pac-12 and the Atlantic 10, are experiencing incredibly down seasons, there is room available for the Big East to snag more bids than many are currently projecting. This bodes well for Butler, who should be able to win their fair share of conference games behind a highly-efficient offense and a talented defensive backcourt. At this moment, though, it might be hard to find an optimistic Butler fan, as many have already decided that this is a lost season.

And while the Dawgs have struggled tremendously during this past two outings of this inconsistent season, they are not that far removed from many projecting them to finish in the top half of the Big East. In order for Butler to make that happen, though, they need to defend home court and then learn how to win on the road. So, without any further ado, what will the Dawgs need to do in order to snag a much-needed home win over Creighton to right the ship? (All statistics used in this article were found via Sports-Reference or KenPom.)
