Buffalo basketball, who is currently ranked in the national top-25, has a big game coming up against Toledo. What do they to do to succeed?

Buffalo is looking to repeat as the Mid-American Conference Champions. The Bulls started off conference play with an 18-point win over Eastern Michigan but what do they need to do to continue their run against Toledo? In this article, I offer three keys that I believe are essential to their success.

Looking to add a top-25 road win to their resume and avoid starting 0-2 in conference play, Toledo is going to be hungrier than ever here. Even after their recent loss to Ball State, Toledo still ranks 66th in KenPom’s Index and Buffalo sits at 29th. The Bulls are a bit higher in the most recent NET Rankings, going from 28 to 23 where Toledo fell from 47 to 76. There is a chance we can see both these teams dancing in March.

The possibility of an at-large bid is much more realistic for Buffalo with wins over West Virginia and San Francisco. Toledo is not featured in our Busting Brackets’ Bracketology so this is also a must-win game if they want any consideration outside of an automatic bid.

The Rockets are currently 12-2 and a team that many believe is the next best squad behind Buffalo. In their conference opener, Toledo’s 10-game win streak was snapped by Ball State. Ball State is 10-4 and is proving they are going to make some noise in the conference as well.

Buffalo definitely does not have the toughest schedule but by no means is it the easiest. I still expect the Bulls to finish conference play with no more than two losses but road games at Toledo, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Kent State can all be a challenge. On to Buffalo’s keys to winning this game.
