Virginia Tech Basketball looks to give the Virginia Cavaliers their first loss of the season on Tuesday night. Here’s a look at three keys to victory.

Virginia Tech Basketball tied their best start in school history (14-1) while getting their third victory in ACC play on the road against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this past Wednesday, 52-49.

The Hokies didn’t have their best game against Georgia Tech on the road, shooting 29.8 percent from the field and 18.5 percent from behind the arc, but they found a way to win. On Tuesday night, they’ll travel to Charlottesville to face a tough Virginia Cavaliers team to put their unbeaten streak on the line.

The Cavaliers are 15-0 and 3-0 in ACC play through three convincing wins over conference foes. They’ve won by an average margin of 20 points, allowing just 50.3 points per game in conference play. The Hokies will bring their own defensive pedigree to the equation under head coach Buzz Williams which should make for a tough defensive battle.

Virginia Tech enters the game shooting 32.8 percent from 3-point range and averaging 70 points per game in conference play. The Cavaliers, on the other hand, are shooting 43.1 percent from behind the arc and averaging 70.3 points per contest. It could come down to who plays better defensively in this one. Here’s a look at three keys to victory for the Virginia Tech Hokies against the Cavaliers.
