3. Get big road games from key players

Virginia has yet to play a team quite like the Virginia Tech Hokies when it comes to shooting the 3-pointer. The Hokies have tons of weapons at their disposal to utilize in getting a victory in this one, but some of them have yet to play big on the road in conference action, namely junior forward Nickeil Alexander-Walker and senior guard Justin Robinson.

Alexander-Walker went 1-of-13 from the field and 0-for-6 from 3-point range in the Hokies victory over the Yellow Jackets last Wednesday. Alexander-Walker is shooting 48.6 percent from the field through the first three conference games and 25 percent from behind the arc. In nonconference play, he shot 48.4 percent from behind the arc.

Luckily for Virginia Tech, Kerry Blackshear Jr. is producing 18.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game and Ahmed Hill is averaging 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest in ACC play so far.

Robinson is producing just 9.7 points per contest along with 5.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in conference play. His scoring is down but as the Cavaliers loom, he’s due for a big game as is Alexander-Walker after having his worst game of the season as well. The Hokies will need them to have big games to get a win against the Cavaliers.
