ACC basketball had an interesting weekend in conference play and as a result, there are a few shifts in the power rankings.
It was quite the weekend for a few teams in the ACC basketball realm, outside of the explosive performance by the Duke Blue Devils in non-conference play. The NC State Wolfpack fell by 23 points at home on Saturday to the Virginia Tech Hokies, who were without senior guard Justin Robinson.
The North Carolina Tar Heels got revenge on the road against the Louisville Cardinals, just when it looked like the Cardinals were making a move in the power rankings.
Parity in the ACC is present and accounted for halfway through the conference schedule. Three teams currently have one less in conference play. Three teams have identical records of 7-2 below them. After the top six teams, there’s the Florida State Seminoles with a 4-4 record in ACC action.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of the schedule plays out, especially with some big matchups coming up this week. Louisville and Virginia Tech face off on Monday night. On Tuesday night, the Wolfpack travel to Chapel Hill. On Saturday evening, Duke and Virginia face off for Part 2 of their first matchup that saw the Blue Devils win 72-70 back on Jan. 19.
This may not be the last shift in the rankings, that’s for sure. Here’s a look at this week’s ACC basketball power rankings.
