Michigan got some revenge on Saturday as they beat Wisconsin 61-52 as Charles Matthews came alive in the second half and Jon Teske did a great job defending Ethan Happ. It was a rough game that looked more like a game played in March instead of the beginning of February. The Wolverines showed a toughness that they lacked in a couple games before including their loss to Iowa.
The Wolverines still sit tied at the top of the Big Ten standings with Purdue but have a tougher schedule to end the season. They need to take care of business against a Penn State team that only has one win in the Big Ten but has been in a lot of games. Winning on the road in the Big Ten is always tough and Michigan needs to make sure they don’t look past the Nittany Lions to their matchup against Maryland on Saturday.
Penn State finally picked up their first Big Ten win this week when they beat Northwestern. They almost got their second in a row but lost by four to Ohio State over the weekend. Lamar Stevens is leading the way for the Nittany Lions averaging 18.9 points per game and could be a first-team Big Ten selection. Head coach Pat Chambers is starting to feel some heat as the Nittany Lions continue to lose in the Big Ten. Winning against Michigan would be a big boost but would it be enough?
What does Michigan need to do to avoid the upset and keep pace with Purdue? We take a look at three keys.
