ACC Basketball saw some shakeups in the power rankings as an injury has Duke on edge. Here’s a look at this week’s rankings.
ACC basketball got a shockwave of its own on Wednesday night when Duke Blue Devils freshman Zion Williamson went down with a ripped shoe and an apparent knee injury and just like that, there’s sudden panic among the Duke Blue Devils fan base. The North Carolina Tar Heels didn’t do much to quell the Williamson injury with their dominant, 88-72 victory over the Blue Devils.
Just like that, three teams are 11-2 in league play and there’s a sudden shift in focus on who will finish No. 1 atop the final power rankings. The Blue Devils showed their vulnerability on Wednesday night, while the Tar Heels showed that they’re peaking at just the right time.
North Carolina already lost to the Virginia Cavaliers this season but they hold an edge with a victory over Duke. They may not make any movement just yet, but with some key games coming up, there’s a chance they could challenge for the top position.
The Cavaliers aren’t done yet, either. Virginia is still 11-2 in conference play but behind them lurks four teams with nine wins in ACC action. Without Williamson in the rotation, Duke will have their own issues, but it’s added Virginia and North Carolina to finish strong. Here’s a look at this week’s ACC basketball power rankings.
