6. Syracuse Orange (18-10) (9-6 ACC)

Last rank: 5th (↓1)

The Syracuse Orange find themselves licking their wounds this week after losing two straight games and three of their last four contests. The Orange are on the ropes after leading the North Carolina Tar Heels 46-43 at halftime on Wednesday but fell in the end, 93-85.

Syracuse didn’t play terribly in the second half, but sending North Carolina to the free throw line 37 times for 34 makes led to their latest loss. They still got 29 points, five assists and five rebounds from Tyus Battle, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.

Against the Blue Devils this past Saturday, they were unable to get a victory despite the absence of Zion Williamson. Duke won in the end, 75-65. Battle struggled shooting in that one, going 4-of-17 from the field but still managed to lead the way with 16 points.

The Orange have a favorable schedule coming up, though, they still have to face Virginia at home this Monday. First up though, they’re on the road this Saturday against Wake Forest.
