3. Miami handles business

The Miami Hurricanes got the first win in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, a sign of optimism given how their season has turned out. They finished the regular season with a loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies and on Wednesday, they’ll get a shot at revenge.

The Hurricanes got 20 points and 10 rebounds from Anthony Lawrence II as they rolled to a 79-71 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Lawrence got some help on offense from Dejan Vasiljevic as well. Vasiljevic put up 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc. The Hurricanes will return to action on Wednesday afternoon against No. 5 seed Virginia Tech.

Miami lost twice during the regular season but all bets are off in terms of secure victories in the ACC Tournament. They’ll have a chance to play spoiler against the Hokies though the odds will be slightly stacked against them on both ends of the floor.
