20. 2014-15 (27-9) (13-5 Big 12)

The 2014-15 season was another bizarre one for the Jayhawks. Outside of junior Perry Ellis and sophomores Frank Mason and Wayne Selden, they were limited in terms of consistent offensive production. They had freshman forwards Kelly Oubre Jr. and Cliff Alexander, but they had their own adjustments to make to the college game.

An early season 72-40 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats and a 77-52 road loss to the Temple Owls were learning experiences heading into conference play. In the Big 12, the Jayhawks finished 13-5, taking home their 11th straight regular-season conference crown.

Their dominance during the regular season in conference play nearly carried over into the conference tournament championship game, but the Iowa State Cyclones took home the title with a 70-66 victory. The Cyclones outscored the Jayhawks 47-29 in the second half led by Georges Niang’s 19 points to steal the victory.

Kansas earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday. They opened the second round of the tournament against the New Mexico State Aggies. Kansas did away with them easily 75-56 behind 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists from Frank Mason.

In the third round, the No. 7-seeded Wichita State Shockers reminded the nation why they’re not be taken lightly with a 78-65 victory. The Shockers’ starting five led by Fred VanVleet combined to score 70 points in the victory.

The loss marked the second straight season the Jayhawks were eliminated in the third round of action. It’s also marked the last time they’ve lost before the regional final of the NCAA Tournament.
