11. 2010-11 (35-3) (14-2 Big 12)

A junior trio of Marcus Morris, Markeiff Morris and Tyshawn Taylor nearly took Kansas to a national title. The Jayhawks began the season 18-0 and were ranked among the Top 5 teams in the AP Poll for much of the year.

Morris produced 17.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game during the regular season. Markieff produced 13.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest. Taylor produced 9.3 points and 4.6 assists per game as the floor general.

The Jayhawks flirted with the No. 1 rank in the AP Poll, but lost in conference play to the Kansas State Wildcats. In one of their best Big 12 performances under Bill Self, they finished 14-2 winning both the regular season title and conference tournament title en route to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

In their first three wins in the NCAA Tournament, they held their opponents below 60 points and scored over 70 points, a nice balance on both ends to find victories. However, the No. 11-seeded VCU Rams weren’t like their other opponents. Led by head coach Shaka Smart, they pulled off an upset for the ages, as they defeated the Jayhawks 71-61 in the Elite Eight.

26 points and 10 rebounds from Jamie Skeen led the way for the Rams, as they made 12-of-25 3-pointers in the victory as well. Kansas shot 2-of-21 (9.5 percent) from behind the arc in the game. They fell victim to a Cinderella squad, but they learned a lot as it propelled them further in 2011-12.
