The Virginia Cavaliers brought home a national title, now let’s see what 2019-20 could possibly bring for ACC basketball.
Seven teams from ACC Basketball made it to the NCAA Tournament and by the end of it all, only the Virginia Cavaliers remained in the National Championship game. The Cavaliers got revenge after an early exit in the 2018 NCAA Tournament with the 2019 national title this season. They played in a defensive battle against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but in the end, they got an 85-77 victory in overtime.
The Cavaliers were the only team that stood tall in the end in the Final Four. The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels were close, but Virginia proved that gritty defense and team play is the key to getting a victory in the national title game.
Next season, the bar of competition will rise for the Cavaliers. They did go 16-2 in ACC play but things will get tougher for them as the 2019 recruiting class is chock full of some solid prospects headed to the ACC. As of now, the Louisville Cardinals boast the top recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
Things will only get more challenging for Virginia and others entering a new season. Here’s a look at the way-too-early power rankings for the 2019-20 season.
