1. Virginia Cavaliers

The Virginia Cavaliers put an exclamation point on their redemption story from 2018 with a national title victory in 2019 in their first-ever appearance. The Cavaliers are no longer the laughing stock of the ACC after falling to the No. 16 team (UMBC Retrievers) in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Now, they’re 2019 NCAA Tournament champions.

De’Andre Hunter came up big in a matchup of top draft picks, outdoing Jarrett Culver to the tune of a career-high 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point land. Hunter answered the call with a ton of big shots during the biggest game of his career, which should catapult him into the NBA Draft Lottery. Kyle Guy also finished with 24 points on four made 3-pointers.

Guy is due to return along with Ty Jerome, Braxton Key and Mamadi Diakite. They’ve also got a few Top 60 prospects in the 2019 recruiting class on the way. Look for Virginia to rule supreme in the ACC again, upsets are behind them now.
