Miami Basketball had a down season in 2018-19, but they’ve got a strong crop of recruits coming their way next season.

Miami Basketball had a down season on the hardwood this past season. They posted a record of 14-18 overall and 5-13 in the ACC. It was head coach Jim Larranaga’s worst season as the Hurricanes leader since taking over in 2011. It was also the first time one of his squads finished below .500 overall during his tenure.

The Hurricanes took some bruises this past season as they lost their top two key contributors from a season ago. Lonnie Walker IV and Bruce Brown went to the NBA and it left Chris Lykes alone in the backcourt to run the offense.

He did well, averaging 16.2 points, 3.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game but it didn’t turn into many wins, particularly in conference action. Anthony Lawrence Jr. and Zach Johnson both produced 12.6 points and 11.8 points per contest respectively, but both will be gone next season due to graduation.

Help is on the way though for Lykes and company in 2019-20 with quite the 2019 recruiting class. They’ve currently got fourth-ranked class heading into another signing period. Here’s a look at the 2019 recruiting class for the Miami Hurricanes.
