Jalen Cone is a four-star guard in the 2019 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. What are the pros and cons of each of his finalists?

The NCAA Basketball recruiting cycle for the class of 2019 is nearly complete, with over 95% of the prospects having chosen their college teams. There was a new addition to the class in Jalen Cone, a top-100 recruit who recently reclassified from 2020 to this year. His recruitment has been lightning quick, already picking a final list of six teams.

Cone, a 5’11 point guard from Walkertown, North Carolina is a good scorer with athleticism that translates to the next level. Who knows if he’ll have an immediate impact at the national stage but with the six finalists involved, the playmaker should be playing sooner than later. All of them has pros and cons for Cone to consider, so which ones are the best fit for the guard?

Boston College Eagles

Pros

It’s been a consistent struggle for the Eagles to make the top-half of the ACC but it hasn’t stopped the team from sending perimeter players to the NBA. Jerome Robinson was a first-round pick a year ago, and the leading scorer from this past season Ky Bowman is likely to get drafted. Boston College under Jim Christian has been guard oriented and Cone can slide in along with Wynston Tabbs should be a strong backcourt for future seasons.

Cons

If Cone was a grad transfer, this would be a better option. That’s because there’s a real possibility that Coach Christian may not even be around after next year if Boston College doesn’t improve drastically. Like many coaching changes, players will transfer out, meaning Cone may be in a situation to do this all over a year from now. Considering that other teams can also offer immediate playing time, there’s just no real reason why he would pick this team.
