NBA Draft: Top 25 one-and-done prospects of all-time
Forward Andrew Wiggins is the first Kansas Jayhawks player to grace the list of one-and-done prospects to make a splash. Wiggins spent the 2013-14 season as a member of Jayhawks and quickly emerged as one of their top players.
The 6-foot-8 forward led Kansas to a 25-10 record and a 14-4 finish in Big 12 play. He led the team in scoring (17.1 points per game), while also producing 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest as well. He shot 34.1 percent from 3-point land and 44.8 percent from the field for the Jayhawks, while taking home All-Big 12 honors and Big 12 Rookie of the Year honors.
He scored a career-best 41 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field and 15-of-19 shooting from the free throw line against the West Virginia Mountaineers back on March 8, 2014, though it came in a 92-86 loss.
When he entered the NBA, he was taken first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2014 NBA Draft. The return of LeBron James in free agency changed his trajectory, sending him to the Minnesota Timberwolves that following August.
He still won the NBA Rookie of the Year award with the Timberwolves during the 2014-15 season. He put up 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game in his first year.
Since then, he’s remained a steady contributor in Minnesota, averaging 19.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. Wiggins has yet to make an All-Star appearance, but he still remains a staple in the Timberwolves starting rotation alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.
