Virginia Tech Basketball: 2019 NBA Draft profile of Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Nickeil Alexander-Walker of Virginia Tech Basketball has emerged as a potential lottery pick over the past few seasons. Here’s a look at his profile for the 2019 NBA Draft.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker was one of the main reasons for Virginia Tech Basketball deep run in the 2019 NCAA Tournament this past season. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound wing prospect has all the makings of an NBA player with his length, versatility and playmaking ability.
NAW emerged as a third-team All-ACC performer when the 2018-19 season was all said and done. He produced 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals per contest in ACC play this past season, a drastic improvement in his production from his freshman season. He shot the ball 34.1 percent from the 3-point line and 42.5 percent from the field, showing off increased skills when senior guard Justin Robinson went out with an injury.
He’s a prospect that’s showing tremendous upside as the years are progressing with his development and poses potential as a versatile wing to have in the rotation. He can create his own shot as well as catch-and-shoot with ease when given the opportunity.
On defense, he’s shown the awareness to play the passing lanes and he’s guarded some of the top players in the ACC this past season. He posted a defensive rating of 94.6 this past season while on the floor and given his performance all-around, it’s no surprise he’s in this year’s NBA Draft. Here’s a look at the 2019 NBA Draft profile for wing Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
