Caleb Dorsey is the 2nd player from the 2020 recruiting class to commit to Penn State Basketball. What does he bring to the Nittany Lions?

Caleb Dorsey is a 6’7″, 200-pound small forward from Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He plays his prep school ball at the prestigious Hill School. Dorsey holds offers from Georgetown, Lehigh, Hofstra, Appalachian State, and UMBC. He also was receiving interest from Temple and took an unofficial visit there back in the summer of 2018. In the end, he elected to commit to Penn State Basketball for the 2020-21 season.

Dorsey is ranked as the best player at The Hill School, which plays in the ultra-competitive Mid-Atlantic Prep League. The private school conference is made up on prep schools from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Dorsey plays for Team Durant on the AAU circuit. He’s averaging 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game for Team Durant.

Dorsey possesses good size for his style of game. He’s a lights-out three-point shooter, and he slashes to the basket hard and attacks the rim with aggressiveness. His 6’8″, 200-lb frame makes it difficult for opposing defenders to efficiently contest his three-point jump shot. A very underrated trait of Dorsey is his willingness to accept and push through contact while attacking the rim, leading to potential and-one opportunities.

Dorsey will bring Penn State depth at the forward position, which will be desperately needed after Lamar Stevens graduates following this upcoming season. Dorsey’s potential waiting time for meaningful minutes could actually be a good thing for him, so he can get acclimated to the speed and physicality of the college game without having much pressure put on his shoulders.

Dorsey joins Dallion Johnson in the 2020 recruiting class for Penn State, which is currently ranked 52nd nationally. Penn State has one remaining scholarship spot for that class.
