Baylor Basketball: 2019-20 season preview for Bears
Baylor has a team that can make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament
The Bears’ schedule sees them face Pac-12 champ Washington in Alaska at the Armed Forces Classic and three games at the Myrtle Beach Invitational against Ohio, then either Utah or Coastal Carolina, their third game could be a potential matchup with Villanova, before the end of November.
In December they don’t leave the state of Texas and have two high-profile games in Waco against Butler and a resurgent Arizona squad. Their final non-conference game is the marquee game of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge when they travel to Gainesville to take on Florida.
There are high expectations in Waco this season, and for good reason. The Bears were successful last season without their best player for half the year, and in his stead, other players stepped up and got better in the process, like Butler and Vital. Now all those players return and they also welcome two impact transfers and a freshman that should play rotational minutes right away.
They are a preseason top 25 team for good reason, and they have a pretty high ceiling if everything comes together and there are no injuries. Drew has been to two Elite Eights, and a third is not out of the question in 2019.
