1. The options that the Spartans have on offense are scary

Against Kentucky and Seton Hall there were times where the Michigan State offense struggled. But as the season progresses and the Spartans keep on finding their flow, they’re going to be a problem for every team in the nation. Over both wins against the unranked teams they’ve played, the Spartans scored a combined 194 points.

Sure, they played two teams that they should be beating with their eyes closed, but every big side has to play the smaller teams – it’s how you do it that gets the attention of everyone else. And Michigan State, while winning big so far this year have been very impressive. The way that Izzo and his side don’t take their foot off the gas until the final buzzer shows to me that they’re a team to not sleep on, even at the worst of times.

This game was always going to leave plenty of opportunities for the Spartans to get points. But the Buccaneers aren’t a joke. Their roster, which consists of 11 guys returning from last season has a lot of experience and can be a tough team to face. That being said, they were no match for the Spartan offense that shot 56.3% from the field in the onslaught. The usual suspects of Cassius Winston and Tillman could’ve won this one by themselves, but guard Rocket Watts and forward Gabe Brown showed that this team has plenty of other scoring options as the two combined for 23 points.

Freshman, Watts, was able to show what he’s all about last night. He seems like a legitimate weapon when he’s on the ball. From his handles to his success at getting to the rack, it looks like Izzo’s got himself another stud. Then Brown, sophomore, also had himself a productive night as he shone with his inside scoring, which included this ferocious slam:

All in all, it was an impressive offensive performance from the entire Spartan team. You’re not going to have many nights where the bench scores you 35 points. The game showed that the scoring is certainly there. Along with Winston and Tillman, who are obvious offensive threats, there are plenty of others to worry about for opposing defenses. From the starting line-up to the depths of the bench, there are a number of productive scorers on this Spartan side. It was just a crazy night on the offensive end and shows us that MSU has excellent scoring options.
