Duke Basketball: 2019-20 keys to beat Michigan State in ACC/Big Ten Challenge
Duke Basketball will head to East Lansing on Tuesday for a top-15 matchup with the Michigan State Spartans. What are the three keys to coming out with their second ranked win?
Duke Basketball is coming off one of their worst losses in years, which was also their first loss to a non-conference opponent at home in 151 games. Because of this, the Blue Devils fell nine spots from one to 10.
However, Michigan State is also coming off a loss to an unranked opponent which was at the hands of Virginia Tech for the Spartans’ second loss of the season.
Now, Duke will look to win their first road game of the season against the team that ended their season in the elite eight last year.
Last season’s game between Duke and Michigan State was one of the best games of the tournament. The Spartans went onto win by one point ending Duke’s run with three of the top-10 picks from the 2019 Draft.
Now, about eight months later, a much different Duke team will have their chance at revenge against Michigan State. Unfortunately for Duke though, they will be without starting guard, Cassius Stanley.
Stanley got injured during Friday’s game against Winthrop and is expected to be out until after Christmas Break. Without Stanley, Duke looks like a much different team and you may see them struggle a bit early on because of it.
Tuesday’s matchup between the Blue Devils and Spartans is apart of the ACC/B1G Challenge.
Duke has won each of their matchups in the ACC/B1G Challenge since its 22 point loss to Ohio State in 2011. Michigan State, on the other hand, lost their matchup just last year against Louisville.
So with this being said, let’s take a look at the three keys for Duke to continue their winning streak in the ACC/B1G Challenge and get revenge against the Spartans.
