2. Florida Gators

Record: 8-4

Hardly any team in NCAA basketball is underachieving more than the Florida Gators. They are proving to have been extremely overrated heading into the season. I mean, many analysts considered them to be National Championship contenders.

With plenty of basketball still to be played, the Gators can still turn heads with a strong showing in SEC play; however, they have not looked one bit like a team capable of making a deep NCAA Tournament run.

With the talent Florida has, they should have won more games than they have. The return of Andrew Nembhard and Keyontae Johnson from last year’s team provided them with experience that was thought to give them an edge. In addition to these two, the Gators picked up Kerry Blackshear as a graduate transfer from Virginia Tech and one of the best freshmen in the country in Scottie Lewis.

The fact that Florida has four losses through eleven games with these guys suggests that coaching is the issue. Head Coach Mike White may find himself in a tough position if he does not find a way to produce a great time with these guys on his roster.

One thing not looking too great for the Gators is that the competition at the top of the SEC will be tougher than those squads they have lost to. After they battle through conference play, they will still most likely be an NCAA Tournament team, but they have a lot of work to do if they want to reestablish themselves as a national contender.
