Michigan State Basketball: Why Spartans would’ve won 2020 NCAA Tournament
By Ryan Kay
Winston and Tillman would have led Michigan State to a national title
When you have a point guard who has played significant minutes for four seasons and has started for the vast majority of his time on campus and add to the fact that he has had back to back amazing years, then that gives you an amazing chance to win a national championship. Winston had a difficult season off the court with the loss of one of his brothers but his maturity, courage, and strength among his many great qualities allowed him to still be able to play very well on the court. However, to win a national championship he would need help.
Tillman has played meaningful minutes the past two seasons and since midway during his sophomore year has played very well on both ends of the floor. He this season modified his name due to the birth of his son who he named after himself and he added Sr. to the back of his jersey.
He, like Winston, stepped up with his leadership on the court and made Michigan State a team that looked like a national championship team. Players like Winston and Tillman are coaches’ dreams as they have many attributes on and off of the court. Izzo must have been looking forward to coach these two men in the NCAA tournament.
There are no guarantees that Winston and Tillman would have both catapulted Michigan State to a national championship title but there can be some strong arguments and insights that would suggest they would have had a great chance of cutting down the nets in Atlanta had it not been for the cancellation of the NCAA tournament.
