Minnesota Gophers

The Gophers have had some success in the transfer portal this offseason, landing grad transfer forward Brandon Johnson and Drake center Liam Robbins, who is looking for a waiver. They’re also considered the frontrunner for Utah sit-out transfer guard Both Gach, who is originally from the area.

Minnesota is in huge need of a wing scorer, with only Gabe Kalscheur on the roster as of now. And if top-tier scorer and passer Marcus Carr stays in the NBA Draft, there goes another offensive weapon. With Gach likely having to sit out, they could make a move for Figueroa, who’ll have a better case to make with the NCAA.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

The connection between Figueroa and a current Husker assistant makes this a possibility, particularly since head coach Fred Hoiberg loves adding transfers. It’s approaching double figures in less than two years in the effort to improve the roster, adding Kobe King, Kobe Webster and Trey McGowens.

JUCO transfer Teddy Allen and Shamiel Stevenson are rotation pieces on the wing as well but while there is depth overall for next season, none of them are 15 ppg scorers like Figueroa has proven to be. Nebraska is still projected to being near the bottom of the Big Ten next season but landing a high-caliber player of his stature could bump them up a few spots.
