Michigan State Basketball once again gets another very talented and sought-after basketball recruit in five-star center Enoch Boakye.

Michigan State Basketball gets another five-star student-athlete to commit to the Spartans as Enoch Boakye announced that he will be attending Michigan State University to play basketball for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.

The past month has been very good to coach Izzo and his basketball program as he and his staff have convinced multiple highly talented student-athletes to attend Michigan State University to play collegiate basketball. After 2021 recruit Pierre Brooks committed the Spartans in late April, in a somewhat of a surprise announcement, consensus #1 2022 recruit Emoni Bates committed to Michigan State. That was just the beginning of an amazing summer on the recruiting trail for Izzo and his program.

The commitment of Bates alone would have made it a good recruiting summer for Izzo but he and his coaching staff were not done getting student-athletes to commit to the green and white. Another 5-Star recruit in Max Christie committed to the Spartans as he the #1 shooting guard in the 2021 class.  Then the big news came as Izzo go his first big man commit this summer.

Enoch Boakye announced on Twitter that he would choose the university that he would attend to play collegiate ball.

Boakye had numerous offers from high profile programs but in the end, picked to play for Michigan State and coach Izzo. He joins Bates in the 2022 recruiting class but both of them could reclassify for the 2021 season. Regardless, he is a highly sought-after big man that will help solidify the Michigan State front line.

He is a 6’10” center from George Harris Prep in Ontario, Canada. He has a very big and high upside as he will be able to develop into a possible Jaren Jackson Jr. type of player. The center is an athlete big and can be force near the rim because he has the energy, stamina, and motor. He has the body type with his shoulders that the Michigan State strength and conditioning staff will be able to work with him to develop his body for a future in the NBA.

Boakye has long arms with a good wingspan that will make him a force on defense which Izzo could turn him into a rebounding machine. He has the potential to work on his game to make him into a stretch four for a potentially promising future in the NBA. Even if he doesn’t develop his outside game, he has been compared to NBA player Thomas Bryant of the Washington Wizards as shown in the video below.

Boakye when he arrives on the campus of Michigan State in East Lansing will help solidify the Spartan’s frontcourt along with Julius Marble and Mady Sissoko. Izzo and his coaching staff have done an amazing job adapting to virtual recruiting during the COVID-19 pandemic. The most surprising thing may be that Izzo is not done getting highly rated recruits to commit to Michigan State and the amazing summer of recruiting for the Spartans may not be over yet.
