UConn basketball adds their second four-star player in the class of 2021 with the addition of top-50 shooting guard Jordan Hawkins. Here’s what Hawkins will bring to the Huskies.

Dan Hurley and UConn Basketball are not messing around on the recruiting trail as they prepare for their first season back in the Big East. UConn has just added their second four-star guard to their 2021 class in the addition of Maryland guard Jordan Hawkins.

UConn is fresh off the addition of point guard Rahsool Diggins from Philidelphia. Hurley is making it a priority to build the core of the UConn roster around the top talents from the northeast. Diggins is rated as the number 53 player in the 2021 class according to 24/7.

UConn is set for the two-guard spot next season with Bouknight but the feel is this may be his last in Storrs before heading going pro. UConn added Rhode Island transfer Tyrese Marting this spring, Martin will have three seasons of eligibility and is a candidate to sit out the 2020-21 season unless he were to get a transfer waiver.

Hawkins is a great shooter, he excels at getting to the hole and finishing through contact but keeps defenders guessing with a great pull up jump shot. Hawkins has serious bounce similar to Bouknight and really excels out on to the wing, defenders have to play Hawkins straight up, he’ll make you pay if you sag off and has the ability to beat you off the dribble if you play him tight.

A great offensive player but it can’t be emphasized enough that he is a true two-way player, Hawkins is a great defender and plays with a lot of energy. His athleticism is second to none and a great addition for the Huskies.

UConn has their attention on Saint Patrick School big man Samson Johnson, Johnson was a former teammate of current Husky Adama Sanogo. Johnson has been a focal point for Hurley for quite some time as there were rumors Johnson was a candidate to reclassify and potentially be apart of the 2020 class.
