Mady Sissoko – Freshman center

Mady Sissoko is one of the more exciting prospects to come through East Lansing in a while, which is really saying something.

The 40th ranked player nationally by 247sports, Sissoko stands as an absolute tank at 6-foot-9, 230 pounds with a 7’4 wingspan. He fits in exactly what Tom Izzo wants in a center, a back to the basket bruiser, and a dominant force on the glass. Sissoko committed to the Spartans back in September of 2019, and he has already made a huge impact in practice. Some players joked with former Spartan Miles Bridges on Instagram, saying, “He might have more bounce den u mb.” Bridges took the jokes in stride, responding with, “I heard bro lol.”

Sissoko has only been playing organized basketball for a few years now, so he has a lot of room to grow, and it makes what his ceiling could look like very enticing. He’s not expected to play much to begin the season, but he should eventually slide into the starting role, which could happen as early as this season depending on how his growth plays out.

He is currently sitting behind Marcus Bingham Jr., Thomas Kithier, and Julius Marble, but he has a higher ceiling than all three of those players. Sissoko has a chance to be a force in the Big Ten for a long time.
