Virginia Tech Basketball: 3 biggest takeaways from Hokies win over Radford
The Shooters on the Wing are there
Nahiem Alleyne and Hunter Cattoor were two other players who prospered on offense as well. They were two others that finished scoring in double figures as Alleyne finished with 14 points and two made 3-pointers while Cattoor went off for 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Alleyne got the Hokies’ offense jumpstarted towards the end of the first half while Cattoor caught fire in the second half and drained four 3-pointers in a row on the perimeter. They played their roles well and showed that they can serve a solid complementary wing players.
Cartier Diarra didn’t have to do too much, at least in the second half. He finished with eight points (all in the 1st half), three assists, and two rebounds while showing he can run the point guard spot and isn’t afraid to create for himself with the ball in his hands.
Freshman guard Joe Bamisile went just 1-of-8 shooting from the field but he also had seven rebounds, shoring things up on the glass.
All in all, the Hokies seem to be buying into Mike Young and his plan of attack. They forced 15 turnovers and shot the 3-ball with efficiency in the second half to take care of business and get a victory.
