ACC Basketball is underway as Wednesday kicked off the 2020-21 college basketball season and nonconference schedule. Here’s a look at some storylines to follow after Day 1.

10 teams in ACC Basketball country were in action on Wednesday as the 2020-21 college basketball kicked off before the Thanksgiving holiday. After Day 1, the ACC is sitting at 7-3 with some teams looking ready for the future while a few teams were left licking their wounds.

The most impressive of the day was the Virginia Cavaliers. They made their first win look easy with an 89-54 victory over Towson led by Marquette transfer Sam Hauser and Rice transfer Trey Murphy III.

The NC State Wolfpack got a win as senior guard Devon Daniels led the way with a career-high 29 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. He shot 11-of-16 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point land in a 95-61 victory over Charleston Southern.

The Louisville Cardinals had to replace pretty much their whole starting five heading into a new season and through one game, things look solid for them with Carlik Jones and Samuell Williamson leading the way.

The North Carolina Tar Heels showed off a re-energized frontcourt led by Armando Bacot and freshman Day’Ron Sharpe as they got a 79-60 win over College of Charleston.

As far as losses go, the Pittsburgh Panthers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Boston College Golden Eagles all took a loss in their first game of the young season. While the Panthers and Yellow Jackets could be in for a long season, the Boston College Golden Eagles have nothing to hang their head about in a close loss to the No. 3-ranked Villanova Wildcats.

All in all, it was an action-packed day for ACC Basketball on Day 1 of the 2020-21 season. Here’s a look at the five biggest takeaways.
