ACC Basketball has yet to start the conference portion of games but nonconference action has certainly given us something to look forward to.

There’s nothing easy this year about adjusting to ACC Basketball. Freshmen and newcomers in the rotation are going to have to adjust on the fly. No scrimmages and exhibition games for players to prepare for their first year in the ACC. To no avail, there are still some freshmen that have stood out in the conference through the first week of college basketball.

When it comes to looking at the Top 10 Freshmen in the ACC basketball landscape, the Duke Blue Devils boast two freshmen, the North Carolina Tar Heels and Louisville Cardinals boast three freshmen while two other prospects in the Top 10 hail from the NC State Wolfpack and the Clemson Tigers.

Teams had to reload their rotations and with a short window to do it and it seems, most have adjusted without issue. Duke freshman guard D.J. Steward leads the way with the best performance so far with 24 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers is right on his heels following a 20-point performance against Prairie View A&M.

ACC Basketball is right around the corner and through the first week, freshmen are making their case for playing time in their respective rotations. Here’s a look at Week 1 of the ACC Freshmen Watch List.
