The 2020-21 NCAA basketball season has been exciting, even with the pandemic slowing some things down. The freshmen are still making an impact, though.

The recent pandemic changed things a bit for incoming freshmen, but for a select few prospects, it hasn’t slowed them down with the 2020-21 NCAA Basketball season underway.

There wasn’t much of a preseason or any exhibition games for that matter to get players prepared for the upcoming season. Despite it being their first season, some have taken it upon themselves to show that even through the adversity, they’re able to excel.

LSU Tigers guard Cam Thomas and Oklahoma State Cowboys hybrid guard Cade Cunningham are averaging 20+ points per contest on the season. Arkansas State forward Norchas Omier, Kentucky forward Isaiah Jackson, and Cal. State Northridge forward Alex Merkviladze are all averaging 10+ rebounds per contest.

Gonzaga point guard Jalen Suggs, Longwood guard Justin Hill, VCU’s Ace Baldwin, Eastern Kentucky’s Wendell Green Jr., and NC State’s Cam Hayes are all dishing out 5+ assists per game. Duke forward Jalen Johnson, Memphis big man Moussa Cisse, Kentucky forward Isaiah Jackson, USC forward Evan Mobley, and Iona forward Nelly Joseph are all producing 2+ blocks per contest.

That’s just a glimpse of what some of the top freshmen names are doing to make an impact. Here’s a look at 10 freshmen making their mark on the 2020-21 season.
