Texas vs Baylor: 5 defining storylines in 2020-21 top-15 matchup
When Texas travels to the Ferrel Center to meet-up with Baylor on Sunday it will not be the first Big 12 game of the season.
Sunday at 3 pm, No. 14 Texas Longhorns tip-off against No.2 Baylor Bears. The two teams might have a conference in common, but the two teams have a number of contracts that are going to add a fair amount of intrigue to a previously established amount of importance.
A Longhorns’ victory would not only make them 1-0 in the Big 12 but would propel them into the top-10 of the AP Poll. Added interest is that it very possibly could be at the expense of the idle No.10 Duke Blue Devils, just days after Coach K pulling out of non-conference games.
An impressive victory by Baylor could garner them enough votes to become the new No.1 as Gonzaga has not played since defeating West Virginia on Dec. 2, 2020. Baylor’s victories over No.5 and No.14 is comparable to the ‘Zags victories over No. 6 and No. 11.
If the college basketball world is lucky, the game that was scheduled between Baylor and Gonzaga on Dec 5, 2020, will take place before the month’s end, but until that time, fans will have to make the decision on who the best team is on their own.
This game between the two contrasting teams will be a game where the coaches earn their money. The theme that flows throughout this story is the preferred line-ups that each coach wants to and are able to run onto the court during different times of the game. The strategic tug-o-war that will occur between coaches will go just as far in determining the victor as the execution of the player’s will.
