Michigan State Basketball: Takeaways and observations from Oakland victory

Aaron Henry carried the Spartans in the first half
Henry had 10 points and shot over 50% from the field to go along with his four assists in the 1st half. On the defensive end, he had two blocks, two steals, and four rebounds in the first half. Henry also played well in the 2nd half when he made a corner three for the second made basket of the second half.
He would follow it up with an impressive finish near the basket to give him 15 points on the game. He also contributed five rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks for the game in only 28 minutes of play.
Michigan State’s Bench continues to grow and get better
Foster Loyer, Marcus Bingham, Gabe Brown, A. J. Hoggard, and Malik Hall all scored early and contributed on both ends of the floor. Brown and Loyer both made early three-pointers, Bingham and Hall both scored early in the paint, and Hoggard did a nice job on attacking the basket to get an early layup.
In the first half, Loyer had seven points and was four for four from the free-throw line, Brown had six points and was two for three from beyond the arch, and Hall had six points as well to go along with three rebounds. The bench had 24 first-half points which were more than the total of points by the five starters in the first half.
In the 2nd half, Julius Marble would have five early second-half points. Loyer would also make a three-pointer and Hall and Brown would have a bucket each early in the second half. To finish the game, Brown would be the leading scorer for the Spartans with 20 points with an impressive seven for nine shooting for the game.
Hall, Hoggard, and Loyer would all have 10 points for the game as the bench had a very impressive game offensively. The bench combined had 62 total points as Michigan State beat Oakland by a final score of 109-91.
