While the Villanova Wildcats are the lone unbeaten in conference play at 3-0, the Creighton Bluejays and Seton Hall Pirates are right on their heels. Get ready for an exciting year of Big East basketball.
The Villanova Wildcats are unbeaten in Big East action at 3-0 and have won six straight games since falling to the Virginia Tech Hokies back in overtime on Nov. 28. Their most recent win in Big East play comes against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Dec. 23. They’re allowing 67.1 points per game on defense.
Senior guard Collin Gillespie has led the way with 15.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game with Jeremiah Robinson-Earl in tow. Robinson-Earl is averaging a team-high 16.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Bluejays have a 4-1 record in the conference and are led by junior point guard Marcus Zegarowski. He’s posting 14.4 points, 4.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per contest through the first 10 games. Christian Bishop is coming along well with 12.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
The Pirates are 5-1 in Big East action through their first six games. They’ve got a three-headed monster in Sandro Mamukelashvili, Jared Rhoden, and Myles Cale. Mamukelashvili is putting up 18.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
Rhoden is posting 15.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Cale is averaging 11.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. With Creighton on the schedule for Wednesday, it will be a good measuring stick for where they stand among other top squads in the Big East.
