Pac-12 Basketball: 10 key questions looming for 2021-22 season
1. Who’s the favorite to win Pac-12 Player of the Year?
The USC Trojans and Evan Mobley made a clean sweep of many of the postseason awards this past season. Mobley became the first player in league history to win the Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year award. With a new season on the horizon, here’s a look at some early candidates for the Pac-12 Player of the Year award.
Johnny Juzang | UCLA Bruins – Juzang was quite the producer on the wing and in the paint for the Bruins on their run to the Final Four; he averaged 16.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg while shooting 35.3 percent from 3-point range. He’ll be the primary option in the Bruins offense in 2021-22.
Jarod Lucas | Oregon State Beavers – Lucas returns after a strong sophomore campaign in the Beavers’ backcourt. He put up a career-high 12.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg and 1.2 apg and with a bigger role in the rotation, look for his name to grow in the conference.
Jaiden Delaire | Stanford Cardinal – Delaire was last year’s Most Improved Player in Pac-12 basketball while pouring in 12.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg. As he continues to expand his game to the perimeter, look for his star to grow in the conference.
