Virginia Tech Basketball is on quite the rise as head coach Mike Young approaches Year 3 of his tenure. They’re coming off 15-7 season and a third-place finish in ACC basketball with a promising group returning in 2021-22.

With some key players returning, Virginia Tech basketball added some depth in the frontcourt while acquiring a new floor general as well. Young and his staff have done a masterful job of recruiting so far. Here’s a look at their 2021 recruiting class.

5. Lynn Kidd

Kidd is looking for a fresh start after a rough go of things with the Clemson Tigers in 2020-21. The 6-foot-10, 235-pound big man appeared in just 33 total minutes of action across seven games for the Tigers before heading to the transfer portal.

He’s a long, wiry forward that can fly around on both ends and make his presence felt. There’s room for him to grow as a stretch-forward option and as a rim protector as the Hokies look to improve their status in the ACC.

He’ll look to start over in the Hokies frontcourt, which is thin at best with just Aluma, N’Guessan and Mutts returning. They’ll need another one or two big men off the bench that can maintain the glass. Kidd will have a chance to fill a void for Virginia Tech basketball and potentially get more minutes than he did with the Tigers.
